Friedrichstal Market Festival 2005
We live in the village of Friedrichstal, one of the 5 villages
that make up the Town of Stutensee. One of the annual events in
Friedrichstal is the Market Festival. The local clubs and organizations
set up stands selling an array of popular food and drink.

From bratwurst, to steak, to French Flammkuchen, to Asian specialities,
you will find it all here. Of course in Germany a meal is not complete
without a glass of your favorite drink, whether it is beer, wine,
or a non-alcoholic drink. I counted at least 6 different local beers
being offered, including my favorite from the local brewery Andreasbrau.
The highlight this year was a small craft market with various local
craftspeople presenting their ware. I recall seeing pottery, wood
carvings, wood crafts, fresh honey, a brushmaker, a basketmaker,
and various other nick-nacks. Amazing, I wish I was so talented
as these folks.

For the younger crowd there was a merry-go-round, and a few games
to challenge the kiddies.

As I was walking around taking pictures I met my neighbor Guido
and his daughter Saskia. Saskia had just finished her 12th ride
on the merry-go-round and was bugging dad for another ride. I bet
she'll sleep good tonight!

The nicest thing about the festival is that it was across the street
from where we live. I took this picture from our doorstep:
